Day 4

ONE MORE DAY LEFT!

Today I experimented with my lunch a bit by toasting my sandwich, and it brought out the flavors a bit. But don't worry, it was all under my budget for the day. 

Day 3

Halfway there!!
Today was similar to Day 2. Really felt the hunger during lunch time but, I made it. Had a banana for a snack after school which helped a lot. But I am actually proud of myself for coming this far. Overall I have been having the same meals with slight modifications each day, so I thought that I would get bored with the meals pretty quickly, but that didn't happen. I am actually enjoying this challenge.

Day 2

I was really feeling the hunger today, especially in class where my stomach totally didn't growl a few times when the teacher was teaching. But anyhow, I satiated my hunger by snacking on a delicious veggie sandwich during lunch, and along with a mandarin as a snack, I was pretty much alright for the rest of the day. Also, I remembered to drink lots of water between meals.

Day 1

I started my day with a protein-rich oats porridge along with a glass of milk, which fuelled my morning routine. As lunchtime approached, I prepared a healthy veggie sandwich. For a snack, I ate a banana as bananas are good energy-giving foods that fulfilled my evening cravings. As for dinner, I had a bowl of delicious millet porridge, a substitute for my rice intake, which is equally nutritious as rice and is a much cheaper option. Throughout the day, I drank lots of water in between my mealtimes. 

As it was the first day, I didn't actually feel very hungry. But I think I will feel the difference more as I progress along the week.

Overview

For five days, from May 1 to May 5, I will be doing the food challenge where my daily budget for food is 10 dollars across the three meals of the day, for the entire week. By doing this, I want to experience the difficult lives of the less fortunate first-hand and in the process, generate sympathy for them and support them. At the same time, I want to inspire people to come forward and address the prevalent difficult problems in society and take whatever steps we can to bring change and spread hope.

I believe in empowering young people in leading, demanding, and creating positive social change. I believe that I can bring change to the world by first implementing it in my lifestyle and experiencing it first-hand. Through this, I can encourage and inspire my peers to do the same.
