Meet an Oakie: Emma Hollins
I’m Emma from the fabulous state of WA! I’m passionate about making a difference, which is why I joined Oaktree early this year. I’m a Community Organiser, where I have the privilege of leading Team Leaders and Community Leaders in efforts to gain community support and raise awareness for key political issues like ending poverty and Australian Aid investment.
My passion to create change has led me to volunteer on three fantastic conservation and community development projects overseas! Most notably volunteering at Elephant Nature Park, in a rural hill tribe in Northern Thailand, and on a sea turtle conservation project in Costa Rica. As a major sufferer of the travel bug, I plan to continue to merge travel and volunteering over the coming years.
Outside of Oaktree and volunteering, I’m a fourth year Commerce Student and The University of Notre Dame, studying Marketing, Management and Public Relations. I also do marketing work for a Not For Profit in the aged care sector and have a role as a mentor to junior Netball umpires within the community.
At Oaktree, we do so many empowering things. Meeting politicians, having powerful conversations with the community and hosting media stunts. No matter what it is, being a part of Oaktree means being part of a powerful, youth led movement to end poverty.
