Collective Future

The year ahead is pivotal for the movement to end poverty.

Left unchecked, climate change will aggravate the most lethal injustices of extreme poverty. The people most affected are those that already face the greatest development challenges due to economic, social and political marginalisation.

Mr Shorten, we welcome Labor’s recent statements that Australia should be a voice for Pacific nations in the upcoming Paris Climate Summit. But investing in our region’s stability and prosperity will need more than rhetoric.

We need action: Mr Shorten, take the next step and make a commitment of $400 million to international climate finance - funds that will allow for developing countries to adapt to climate change and build the low-carbon economies of the future.

Let’s seize the crucial moments of 2015 to efficiently invest in our region and promote its stability, security and prosperity.
